I'm an audio / a Pro Tools guy. Video editing stations are like totally foreign to me. The thing is, here in my office I happen to have an Avid Nitris system. I don't know what to do with it. Just throw it away?
Background: The system was offered to me for free a couple of years ago if I would come to remove and pick it up myself. I happily accepted and picked it up as I had an idea to try and use it as a powerful video player for my Pro Tools system. Time passed and I've come to realize I don't need or want it anymore. Should I just throw it away (obviously cleaning the drives first as it wasn't done by the previous owner) or could systems like this still be usable to someone?
The system contains:
- A rack mountable HP XW 8000 workstation with a SCSI and a fiber optic card + Nitris Codec and Base
- A rack mountable RAID disk cabinet, 12 * 73GB
- Two LCD monitors
- A CRT monitor
- A rack unit named Avid Nitris with three cards inserted in its back
- Possibly some software licences
