By industry standards, I'm a little guy--an independent producer of local TV commercials. As such, Squeeze has been an intergral part of my workflow. I use it almost daily to encode commercials to various broadcaster's upload specs.
This got me wondering about the "big boys" -- the major content suppliers to network TV? I can't imagine producers of prime-time TV shows are scratching their heads worried about how to encode their shows for broadcast now that Squeeze is going belly up. Do they even use Squeeze? And multi-million dollar productions are certainly not rushing to switch over to Handbrake.
Call me uninformed, but to satisfy my own curiosity I would love to know how major shows are delivered to the networks? What software do they use to encode the files? What format (MPeg-2, MOV) are the files? Are they still delivering on tape?
