Sorry if this is in the wrong section but its my first time posting on the fourm!
I am currently trying to upgrade to a new machine for media composer at work and just getting confused about what is more important for the software to run smoothly. We currently have a HP xw8600 with dual Xeon E5440 quad core processors, 32gb Ram and a 240gb SSD but its showing its age a bit now.
The budget is around the £1000 mark so looking at second hand/refurbished machines. My question is would an older machine with dual quad core processors be better than a newer single quad core or 6 core machine
For example I have found a few options in my price range from the avid spec list to show what I mean.
Dual processors but older:
Dell T5610 Workstation, 2x Xeon E5-2650 V2 2.60GHz, 64GB RAM
Hp Z820 2x Xeon E5-2670 @2.6 GHz, 32GB Ram
or
Single processors but newer:
Dell T5820 Xeon W2102 Quad core, 32Gb Ram
HP Z4 G4 Xeon W-2123 3.6GHz, 32GB Ram
Any suggestions are also welcome!
Thanks
