Best editing codec in Media Composer

In your experience which is the best working codec when editing?

I mean the codec to use when rendering or making a video mixdown?

I used to work with DNxHR SQ for every step, but now I have access at a much powerful editing hardware and I rarely import media, I just link it, so when rendering I ask myself what is the best compromise between smoothness and quality.
