posted a while back on this issue that i had with my new HP zbook 4k dreamcolour display laptop. was horrified to learn that there isnt a fix as of yet.

Using MC version 8.9.2 I have installed and been using an NVidia Quadro FX 3800 on my machine.
Opening up previously editable projectss ceated on earlier version of MC with a 6 way video split using Multi cam editing playback of all 5 Video clips was perfect when clips were grouped.
Under version 8.9.2 I would be lucky if I am getting 10 frames plackback rate so I thought better install the latest driver applicable.
Hunted out the supplied Avid/Utilities/nvidia driver for win 7 tried to install it and the installer just advises that there is no applicable hardwear on the machine.
So the question is should that supplied driver be comaitable with the FX 3800 if not what one am I surposed to be using ?

looks like i need to rebuild my win 7 system.
is it still the case you use edprep with media composer 8.91
its been a few years since i put a system together and i am stuggling to remember the order of things.
1) Win 7 new install.
2) win 7 updates,
3) quicktime 7,79
4) nvidia 358.08
5) editshare client v 7
6) vnc
run edprep..
install media composer
will need to register media composer online (will need wifi enabled)
how do you switch the networking and wifi back on?
is this done in edprep or windows (whereabout in windows?

So I just unboxed my new Panasonic GH5, and shot my first 4K files. And Media Composer says the files are not recognized. Of course. Why didn't I see this coming? I'd like to be able to edit the 4:2:2 4K files, but now I'm wondering if anything shot on my new camera will be usable in Media Composer. Has anyone had any luck with files from the GH5? If so, what settings are you using to shoot? Will I be able to even use 1080p files from the GH5 in Media Composer? Or am I just royally out of luck?

I am unable to import on MC 8.9.3 system. Currently using the nablet freebie for XDCam EX.
So when i try to link the files in the BPAV folder from the soucre browser .. Nothing..
I am not sure where to start with this.
Just as a btw.. The Adobe Premier CC works fine with thes files. No hassles what so ever..
The XDCam files were shot on a Sony PMW350 XDCam camera SxS cards and downloadd using the Sony Browser 2.6 version software on an XP machine then transferring the xdcam files to a windows 10 PC.

We have a weird issue on one of our Avid media composer 8.7.2, running on Z800 and Mojo DX. We label our tracks on the timeline for obvious reasons but in one of our offline suites if the editor opens a sequence with the tracks labelled the system grinds to a halt, no scrubbing, trimming and even opening a menu takes upwards of 30 seconds.
Our other PCs and Macs are not affected.
Would appreciate any advice or if this is a known issue.

I have not changed my export presets in a long time. I went to change some export settings and the familiar "RGB" and "601/709" color space options are gone. This must have happend when I upgraded MC. Am I correct in assuming that "Keep as Legal Range" is REC709 and "Scale from Legal Range" is RGB?
I have quadro m4ooo and trying to connect 3 monitors. 2 samsung 1920x1200 to edit on and LG 4K for external view. They are all connected to m400, 2x DVI and 1x display port. for some reason I can not get them in order. I can't see the surround options, I see Mosaic instead in Nvidia control panel. I'm running MC 8.9.4. on Windows 10 pro as well as Nvidia driver that came with MC. I would thank in advance for any kind of help on this.

If I use any keyboard shortcuts normally used for the timeline (space, J/K/L, etc) while the project window is the active window, Avid will immediately crash. Sometimes even using the arrow keys to navigate the bin structure or pressing delete will cause the crash, but less frequently than other key commands. This most often happens when I select the project window and perform a save to save all bins, then forget that the project window is active and procede to press space/J/K/L/etc to navigate on the timeline. I am able to reproduce this about 90% of the time.
I searched around and couldn't find other posts on this issue. System specs in my sig are current.

I enoy excelent sound quality and stereophonic sound from my Timeline.
When the project is completed, I export to a QuickTime Movie
From the QuickTime movie, I burn a DVD.
The quality of the sound on the DVD is not as sharp as the one coming from the Timeline and the stereo sound is no longer there. Everything comes from the center channel in my surround sound system.
Any other DVD that I play in my surround system is excellent. Excellent surround and sharp sound.
Please let me know what type of sound files I should have when creating the QuickTime Movie and when burning the DVD. To burn the DVD I use the Avid's DVD burning software.

Hello,
I am importing MP4 video files into Media Composer.
When I export the finished sequence, the Quick Time Movie file is huge. Sometimes hundreds of gigabytes, yet the sequence is no longer than 10 or 30 minutes long.
Is there a setting in Media Composer that would allow me to have an excellent video quality file, but it is not so big when exporting to a QTM?

Has anyone come across this?
Every so often, I change the audio level using the audio mixer and press Space - nothing. The only way I know to fix it is to exit Avid and restart. Anyone know how to fix this?

My project has a lot of timelines in it and sometimes i need to know if clip or music track has been used more then once for example.

I need to import some MPG archive (Pathe) files into my timeline. In theory they should be MPEG2 files (although extension is MPG). Wierdly - they also currently look interlaced rather than progressive (and given it's old film imagine original should be progressive.)
I'm not currently able to import or link - what is my best work around? I've got Sorenson Squeeze.

Hey I saw a video of person who was able to sync mulitple videos together with the audio. It was a basic and straight forward process. Highlight clips. right click and his select synchronize. I know MC has added the waveform sync so can it do something similar like this?
I've asked this before but can't remember the procedure... I know I have to deactivate my existing license, install the lastest version of MC and then reactivate. But I can't remember if I have to uninstall the current version (8.6.1) before installing the latest version?
Also, will this effect my plug-ins? I have the Tiffen DFX plug-in currently installed with 8.6
