Wondering if anyone else has run into this.
Prior to 2018.8, Export > MXF OP1a XDCAM HD was limited to 8 channels of audio. Always 8. There have been other threads asking why they could not export only 2 or 4 channels.
In 2018.8 XDCAM was moved to Avid Media Processor and that implementation allowed for any channel selection from 0 to 16. This was great for us as we deliver to any number of clients who need 10 to 16 channels of audio. Also a few that would like 2 and 4. This has saved us a great deal of time not having to rely on third party.
I just discovered that 2018.12 errors out if I select > 8 channels. Many lines of error messages are sent to the console but this looks like the key: "Avid MediaProcessor Plug-In : Media Processor failed to run chain manager:Annex B @ SMPTE RDD 9:2013: SMPTE RDD-9 requires the audio to have 2, 4 or 8 channels. 10 channels have been provided." If Avid has intended to go back to the RDD-9 compliance it would be SO NICE if it was a check box selection. I have not yet tried 2018.12.1 for a number of reasons so I'm not sure if this is a glitch in .12.
Any thoughts?
