Hi

I prepared titles with Title Tool on one computer in a dedicated project.

I copied all the MXF files that were created on that project to another computer and placed it in an empty folder within one of the MXF folders in Avid MediaFiles directory.

I imported to a new bin on the second computer the file msmMMOB.mdb from the directory where the titles were but not like other imports I did for other MXF media, in that case nothing was presented and I did not have the titles presented on the bin.

Could one help me why and or what is the workflow that will enable me to get the titles in the second computer.

Hi -- received a hard drive containing about 50 folders organized by the producer, from different camera cards.  I'd like to keep the folders as is.  The source browser allows me to link to these folders by selecting all folders and clicking "create new bins based on folder names" and then "link".  So I end up with 50 bins based on the camera card folders, with the corresponing media.

However, when I change to "link" to "import", select all folders, and click "import"...nothing happens.  Am I able to import media from multiple folders and have avid create new bins?

The first thing noticed is that MC5 is a new beast.

Here are some AVCHD files to try.

The first 3 files are mts.

Because MC5 is capable of importing AVCHD files.

Update:

1) The import is slow but the files are coming fine into MC.

2) NTSC clips can't be imported into a PAL project as MC detects the framerate and stops you.

3) Once come into MC they play fantastic.

Hi

I would like to know if there is a way to replace one of the camera sources files in the grouped sources, while editing, in a way that the editing that was already made will not be deleted.

I'm seeing a strange bug here on 8.8.5 on both Mac and PC. And I've spoken to a couple of editors who've seen the issue at other facilities. Sorry if this has already been covered, but I couldnt get any proper search results.

Issue: Editor loads sequence "RED" and does some work. Then the editor loads sequence "BLUE" into the record monitor and sees sequence "BLUE" on the timeline, and in the record monitor when playhead is parked, but when they play, sequence "RED" starts playing back in the record monitor. They've cleared the monitor, and reloaded sequences without fixing the problem. A full program restart of Avid has been required. Is ther ea topic on this bug out there already?

Hi,

I just reconnected my system after taking it apart when the latest hurricane rolled through. I wanted to protect my system, but now I'm having problems.

Before disconnecting, I transcoded my files to an external hard drive and was editing just fine. I shut down my system and disconnected. When I reconnected, all of my media is offline. 

Here's what I've done:

- checked the drive through explorer and all of the files are there

- deleted database file and restarted Avid

- tried relinking

- rebooted

- checked folder permissions. Everybody is allowed to do everything. There is a filled box next to"read only" at the folder level, but all files are free of boxes and checks

- rebooted again

-searched the forums

At this point, I'm scratching my head. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I'm running Media Composer v8.85  on Windows 7. My drive is attached via USB 2.0.

Evening,

 

I know this has been asked on the Mac side, however I have NewBlue 5.0.170821 installed on my application manager and when I try to open it via MC I get a message to install NewBlue Titler Pro.  How do I get Avid MC to recognize that NewBlue is installed?

When I have audio effects dropped onto an audio track, MC 9 (CORRECTION - 8.9) wont let me add 'filler at start'. I get the error: 'EXCEPTION: CM_NO_SOURCE'

Tried different user settings. I can still add 'filler at position' - but no filler at start. Whats weird is that nothing looks like its happening, but if you zoom into the timeline you can see that it did add the filler, but the Timecode changes color and the timeline is unusable as it just keeps throwing the EXCEPTION error.

Hello,

Suddenly I was trying to drop a dissolve onto my timeline when suddently three new tracks appeared

They are labeled:  1.1  1.2 and 1.3

I would like to remove them but do not have a clue on how to do that.

I tried CNTRL + Z but does not make them go away.

Hi !

I used MC8 for more than a year on my PC, it worked fine. Then I had to change the motherboard (strictly identical) and I updated all drivers. All programs ar functioning great EXCEPT MC8... Each time I try to open it and once it gets to "Initializing audio Plugins", it crashes with the following blue screen : "Special Pool Detected Memory Corruption". My dump file shows this :

 

BUGCHECK_STR:  0xC1_24

SPECIAL_POOL_CORRUPTION_TYPE:  24

CUSTOMER_CRASH_COUNT:  1

DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID:  CODE_CORRUPTION

PROCESS_NAME:  DSM_Server.exe

 

I disabled "Digidesign DSM Server Module" with DEP but it didn't change nothing.

On the other hand, when I start a Win session in safe mode, then I can use MC8...

 

How do I know which process is in stake ? ...

When MC crashes between an object creation and the auto (or manual) save of the containing bin, the object is orphaned (doesn't appear in the bin after restart). I know how to recover media files like mixdowns etc. but is there a way to recover an customized effect that was stored in a bin just before the crash ? Is the orphaned effect laying somewhere "stranded" in a folder where I could recover it ?

Basically I don't see the waveform anymore after I render for example the Maxim audio effect (and NugenLM Correct 2 also), using the AMA Link method. Tried to create another project/user. No success. On file import, everything works. Is there an option to enable?

We are trying to export quicktimes and we are getting a error that the audio source is mp2 and we need to relink to the uncompressed media.  The mp2 audio is proxy audio generated by avid's transcode engine.  We do not have the uncompressed media available at our location so how can we export the quicktime.  We also tried doing an audio mixdown and got the same error message.

so that you dont have to activate it every time....

is there any possiblility to default this option to YES or YES ALWAYS (or even NO) within console or anywhere else.

pretty annoying when you start i.e. an aaf export and leaving the editing suite just to find out the next morning it stopped exporting some time later to ask you this stupid question ;-)

My workflow invlolves adding markers with a keyboard shortcut and quickly typing comments in the pop up dialog.

In MC 8.9.3, the comments field is not automatically selected after creating the marker, so I have to either manually select it with the mouse or toggle through multitle marker dialog elements before reaching the comments box.

Is this a bug or a deliberate change in functionality? It is slowing me down considerably.

When I go to the store, and click "Renew/Upgrade Now", and then "Renew Now" and "Proceed to Checkout", the price is $400, rather than the $300 I would expect (I'm pretty sure that's what it was last year). It's $295 on VideoGuys, which matches what I expected.  Did the price of the Media Composer update with Symphony go up by 33% in one year, or is there something unclear or misleading on the purchase site?  I already own the Symphony option, and the Avid website knows this already.  Since, you know, I bought it from that very site.

Any clarification would help. I've seen nothing about a price hike, and yet I don't see any way to purchase the renewal in any different manner than I have been trying to do.

folks,

 

recently upgraded for media composer 7 - 8.91.

 

The pc in question is networked and uses editshare connect.

 

I can connect to the network drives within edit share.. Project drive, rushes drive etc.

 

when avid has launched it gets to the select project option, when i then select P in avid (for projects)

(i dont want to edit on the local machine it fires up the following error message)

Exception: Structured Exception, ExceptionCode: 3221225477, ExceptionString: ACCESS_Violation, FaultAddress:0x000000007712f2a2, MiniDumpFilename:98391f85-f85-f2c-45b9-9011-f10b6e8276f6.dmp

and dumps me back to windows

do good folks have any ideas what could be causing this.

I have yet to try just editing on the local machine c: drive just to see if it will go into avid fully.

out of 18 machines this is the only one to be doing it.. the rest seem fine

Hi,

I am running Media Composer 8.9.3 with scriptsync option installed. Currently it has just the default English language packs installed but I am trying to install the Spanish language pack also. I know that I have to download the language pack from my master account but is there a guide or steps on how to install the language pack? Just a little bit lost.

I'm using Media Composer 8.9.3 and I'm having problems with the background services.

Initially, it wasn't loading properly so I followed advice already posted on the forum about overcoming this:

I've already done a clean reinstall of Avid.

Before that I also deleted the Editor transcode folder

And I deleted all old files from the User folder - can't recall which now - following the advice of others having the problem.

I've reached the point where the background queue now loads correctly in a browser, but after a short while completely fails with either one of these errors on apparently random files:

Exception: Exception: Failed to build pipes for play operation - see console for details.

Exception: Exception: Cannot create the AMA sample mapper to play this clip - SelectFileMob() failed.

I can post the console output but I'm unclear about which output is relevant - are the most recent entries at the top or bottom?

Help much appreciated.
