Hello. I have expoerted several timelines from MC 8.9.3. The sequence is mixed down to 1 video track and 1 stereo audio track. When I expert as an XDCam Op1A file the file ends up with 8 audio tracks. I have no control over this to my knowledge.
Is it possible to make this change to only 2 tracks? Thank you
Its very crashy for me 9.3 on certain older projects and so I am losing just generated files (voice over/titles etc) as it crashes before Avid saves the bin they are in. I'm down to 1 min saves now :( So the files ARE in the Avid media folder but finding them with Media Tool and then trying to get them back in to a bin doesnt seem to work - couldnt drag a voice over file in and now cant drag a Marquee title file that I spent 10 mins making back in. They exist... but hadn't yet been auto saved in a bin.
How do I reclaim them as mine!?

Just installed Phrasefind. Let's say I type in "competition," it does a great job of finding that word in master clips, but it's not so great with multigroups. It will occasionally find the word in the sub-groups but rarely in the multi-groups.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

I guess i'm just getting the hang of it. It's working, but it's not perfect. Takes some trial and error to find what you are looking for.

OK, this is annoying. I search for "SHANE." (i've tried with different spellings) PF finds every instance of "Shane" in the source audio, but it won't locate those same instances in the multi-groups! So I have to look at the timecode in the production audio, then open up the multi-group and type in the timecode manually. And this is for interviews. This could be a lot more difficult if the multigroups were of scenework and i couldn't identify which multi-groups the audio belonged to.
Today I did a fresh install of Windows and Media Composer, which I hoped would help with some issues I've been having. One issue that seems to have NOT been resolved is a warning message I had been getting fairly frequently about a problem with licensing iLok. This occured on startup of MC.
After the fresh OS install, I'm still getting this message. All of the iLok stuff, I'm guessing, probably should have auto-installed with Media Composer, but there still seems to be underlying issues with the iLok system. Currenly, I'm downloading the iLok manager separately to see if that helps, but this is certainly an unwelcome problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? My last few problems were unique to my system, and so I'm reluctant to raise any red flags since this very well may also be unique to my setup.
EDIT: Doing a separate install of the iLok software seems to have done the trick, and the error message seems to have disappeared. Although the iLok company itself raises red-flags with Windows on install (drivers unsigned or whatever). The company itself seems a little shady that way (I guess all DRM software is, by its nature, fairly underhanded and ethically questionable). But it's working, so that's that.

I have completed a sequence. It has been rendered. I am trying to export it to my desktop and at a point in that process a message appears on the monitor:
"Exception: Std:Exception: What [CQTexportWorkingThreadBody] Threads:SendThreadMessage: ThreadMessage queue full Main Thread ~DeferredDisplayWait"
So the Exporting stops and there is no clip on the Desktop.
This is the fourth episode where exactly the same material and procedures have been followed. All three previous episodes exported without any problem.
The only difference in this one is that I have used a couple of transitions from the Boris Continuum package.
Replaced those transitions with regular Dissolves, tried again, and again the Export process stopped.
The "processing timer" stops at about 6:11 into it. The time on the right hand side of that window indicates 14:30

With the new version of Avid (most recent 8.9.3) I get the following problem: I duplicate sequence, select the bin where I want it to be duplicated but it saves the sequence somewhere else. Is there a way to locate sequences in different projects? It must have been saved somewhere right?

This is from a few months back, I can't seem to find any more info and I am not sure if there is another solution, perhaps included in the latest install files.

I just transcoded some AMA files to DV 25. I've moved the transcoded clips to a new bin (it would be nice to be able to specify a destination bin for transcodes, BTW).
In my new bin, I now have all the clips with .new.01 appended to them (BTW, it would also be nice to be able to specify the tag that MC automatically places at the end of transcode clips). So now I want to delete the ".new.01" and maybe replace it something more meaningful, e.g. "_transcode".
Is it possible to perform a search and replace command on clip names, or do I have to manually change each clip's name?

I'm catching up with the real world and moving from SD to HD (1080) and would like to output to a HD monitor while editing. My old Mojo can't handle this as it's not HD. My graphics card has an HDMI output but this is not for the 'client monitor'. I'm guessing I will need to replace the SD Mojo with an HD capture card (even thogh I don't need to 'capture' anymore as I am now importing from camera cards. Is there an economical solution that anyone knows? Thanks.
I am unable to import on MC 8.9.3 system. Currently using the nablet freebie for XDCam.
So when i try to link the files in the BPAV folder from the soucre browser .. Nothing..
I am not sure where to start with this.
Just as a btw.. The Adobe Premier CC works fine with thes files. No hassles what so ever..
The XDCam files were shot on a Sony PMW350 XDCam camera SxS cards and downloadd using the Sony Browser 2.6 version software on an XP machine then transferring the xdcam files to a windows 10 PC.

weird bug here (running MC 8.8.1 on Macs, Isis 4.7) - we have some huge group clips, and some "go corrupt" and start to sound like static. If we pull an old bin out of the attic, and then trash all the settings files (MC State, project XMLs etc) then bring the attic bin back - the static is gone. BUT if we open one of the corrupt bins, the static will "move" to the newly saved attic bin.
We've copied media and bins to a local folder, and disconnected from the Isis - problem persists. Anything obvious I'm missing? Bit rate is consistant, and this is a couple episodes into a series.
(happening on two macs, with and without external I/Os, so I'm ruling that out as a cause)
Have 2 DEll 24" 16:10 but oneis now discoluted. Would like some more screen space for bins as I always use the tumbnail view by now. Would this 29" 21:10 work as the left monitor do you think? Not sure how the GFX card would handle mismatched monitors - be nice ot have LOADS of specd for bins! Other option is a 27" IPS 16:9 - would this work with the existing good 16:10?

We are planning to produce a new UHD resolution documentary film of four 1 hour episodes. Most of the footage will be shooted using Canon C300 MKII cameras and, in some cases (music concerts) we are planning to use up to four cameras as multy angle recording.
My setup it's MC 8.6 running over Windows on Nexis enviroment. As most of the days we arrive to our facilities witth lot of files, my concern is find the best workflow to work with.
I gess if I copy all the files to Nexis storage and try to link it via AMA probably doesn't work for long sequences (1h) , specially grouping clips for multi camera process.
Any suggestion will be welcomed.

I'm trying to create an AVI file with a DIVX or XVID codec. This for a portrait size (1080x1920 resolution) Clear Channel advertising display. The advert is edited, but Avid or Squeeze doesn't have those codecs for export.
Has anyone found an easy way of creating such an AVI file that is not standard landscape?

The Audio Track Effects Tool is missing. It is not hidden behind another window or tool in my workspace.
Is anyone else having an issue with this? If it is outside my workspace does anyone have any tips on retrieving it ?

Usually when I group several cameras for Multicam editing I get 2 audio tracks for each of the cameras.
Lately I got HD materials that were taken with a small 909 Panasonic camera.
When grouping it I got 6 audio channels that over run other cameras tracks.
I found out that the 6 tracks of audio are created when setting the camera to surround recording.
Since I cannot change the original settings of the materials I got , I would like to know if there is a way on the process of preparing the grouping and or in other step in the workflow that enables one to decide which of the audio tracks will be chained with the video track of the camera ?
We have an editor new to Avid and he can cuase the Avid to throw all sorts of strange errors. He is beginning to think he has the touch of doom with Avid and wants to stay in his happy place... Premiere!
Here's one that I would call a bug... He is doing some sound mixing so:
*Put the timeline into red segment mode, unlinked clips and select the audio clip you want to adjust the sound on. Yes, I know, and now he knows, you don't need to do this to adjust the clip level - just park the play head..
*The clip turns purple so you know it is selected.
*Open the audio mixed and adjust the slider/level
*Do this 3 or 4 times with different clips
*Then you get and exception error and Avid hangs forcing you to use the application manager to force close Avid.
The connection with my earlier audio bug of adjusting levels before, after 3 or 4 clips, it would stop reflecting the changes you were making is there. This crash happens after about the same time - only this is terminal, Avid hangs completely. So is there something slightly screwy with Audio in this round of avid updates? Making sure we are not in segment mode 100% fixes this. Had it happen on 2 different projects, one old, one new.
