Is there a way to disable automatic keyframe appearance once I start to manipulate image in the effect preview monitor? Whenever I start to drag/ scale/rotate the wire frame in effect preview window the new keyframe is created. Why would I need a keyframe if I don't need an effect to change in time but instead I just want to manipulate the effect directly not by using sliders in effect editor? Is there a setting where can I disable automatic keyframe creation?

I am finding each and every . update is totally screwing up my settings for project and media bins. I understand the wisdom of creating new settings for each major update but point settings should not require this. It is very time consuming to have to rearrange bins each and every time and the project folder disappears too.

I have just upgraded to MC 2020.5 and the program chashes are driving me nuts.
Seems since I upgraded MC canyt keep up with simple inputs, having to wait for ages for the cursor to come back.
If I click too many times MC just dissapears, edits are taking several hours when they are pretty simple.
Is anyone else having problems? I have tried making new User profile, etc.......HELP!!!!

Within the last week or so we upgraded to Ultimate. Is there a place to download or get this setup? The portal doesn't show the upgrade or software links. Past experience with Avid Link is disastrous and breaks our system.
Anyone with experience in this matter? We'd like to get the software updated and use the Ultimate tools.

I have exported an Adobe Premiere AAF file to Avid (an empty sequence just with blacks and a lot of markers) and I have imported the AAF file into AMC and now I can see all my Markers in the sequence.
I have exported the markers to text file so I can import them to another sequence because AMC can't do copy/paste markers but everytime I import the .txt file I got the message:
"A marker in the file has an offset past the end of the sequence and will be ignored. Continue with this file?"
And everytime I click on Cancel the same message shows again (bug?)
Why is that? the markers comes from an Avid sequence to an Avid sequence.
running MC 2020.5 and am looking at the Digital Juice standard or pro package.
They seem to have some good promotions, just not sure if they are a good value or not.
I'm not using After Effects.
Anyone have any feedback on using Digital Juice products within MC?

I'm looking for any workflow suggestions for the following scenario: I edit on my PC desktop at home, then in the evenings I'd like to take my project from the PC desktop to a laptop (both on windows 10). What would be the best way to share one media composer license between these two machines, and move projects back and forth between computers? I'd know how to do this in premiere, but don't know where to start with avid. I gather I'd have to set the Avid Media Files, my project folder, and my raw footage to an external drive and simply move that between the computers?
Any suggestions appreciated!
The new MOV export option is a great step forwards but its worth noting its not completely featured yet and one of the additions to come is the option to scale the output levels.
Currently every thing exported via the UME MOV is legal levels so no mapping is done.
If you are doing a H.264 export (for playback or web upload)
You may want to add a legal to full levels LUT to an empty upper video track of your sequence before export.
Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to generate an on-scren countdown timer in AVID.
There's a point in a talk I'm cutting where a slide pauses so people can read it, and I want to put up a countdown timer on screen so people know 1) the video hasn't frozen and 2) how long until the talk resumes.
Is there a favoured plugin that will allow me to configure this? I don't want to have to round trip through After Effects or any other program - I'm really looking for a way to do this within AVID.
The only google results are pulling up threads from 2010 full of dead links.

Has anybody ever managed to get a Ikegami GFCAM card to work with MC 2018.x or 2019.x.
I guess GFCAM has died development wise in 2014 but I'm not able to find any end of support information that would actually confirm that after MC 8.9 it was all over.

I am working on a 50p project in MC 2020.5
Besides 50p material I have a 50i and a *.mov file. Is there a possibility to import these files?
I'm interested how people are getting on with this and their setups. It definitely works for us, I'm on Z840 for the sender and Z440 for the receiver and 2 screens at 1920x1200 and it's very workable. I've also streamed the client monitor using Sienna NDI over the same VPN , we get about 1o frames delay doing this. I tried Medialooks as well than that works but a bit trickier to set up. Without the client monitor it's hard to tell you are working remotely, and very little investment to make it work.
I was curious what other setups are working.. How about MAC receivers and PC senders, and is it better with one 2560x1080 display for the avid ? And can you go to 3 monitors so the third is the client monitor?
And also are people finding it tricy to set up with random other receivers.? It's easy to control when we own all the kit and it's basically avid spec, but what about more random receiver equipment?
Just interested in peoples experience and whats working.

Had problems with 2020.5 so I downgrade to 2020.4 - testing it now with the same footage that was used in 2020.5 in different project. However know I see a bug in the video tracks where if you choose another track the software makes two of them. I read somewhere else on the forum this was encountered. Is there a workaround?
I am so sorry I upgraded - I had a problem free system before. Wonder what elese I am going to run into - will pprobably go down grade to another version - or just edit in resolve
Just reopened a project and some audio has dissapeared and the audio timeline has gone bright red, It's a linked MP4 file, picture is there bute audio not. any ideas anyone?
In a 1080/59.94 project with DNxHD HQ media. Create simple titles in the Title Tool, and save as normal. In the Source window, as I'm about to start placing them in the timeline, I see that the titles are fading from back (0%) to full (100%) over the course of the default duration for titles (2 minutes.) Indeed, they edit into the timeline partially faded, necessitating a trip into Effect mode for each and every one to bring foreground level to 100%. A simple fix, but a PIA when dealing with numerous titles. I've never seen this behavior before in any MC version, and there's no means for adjustment in the Title Tool. And the looong fade from black can't be a new "feature"...
Anyone else experiencing this behavior? Or should I be thrilled that bugs can still be introduced into the Title Tool almost 30 years down the road!
I use title tool for a lot of utilities, especially watermarking. I've just upgraded to 2020.5 and every title that I create using Title Tool fades the text in over the duration of the title. I didn't even know this was a feature of the tiitle tool. If I ever needed to fade a title, I would simply add it to the timeline.
Anyway, any idea what's going on here? How can I turn this "feature" off?
