I'm using Media Composer 2020. I exported a Quicktime MOV file from my Windows machine and i cannot play it on Quicktime player on my Macbook Pro. I downloaded the Avid Media Codecs LE on the Mac and it refuses to playback. What am I doing wrong here?

On a 1080i/59.94 project, when I create a Title using Titler+, when I scrub the timeline I can see it, but when I hit PLAY, it disappears. When I hit STOP, it re-appears. Can anybody reproduce it? I think it's a bug :( Thanks,

I have some WAV files that I linked to Avid MC 2020 from the audio engineer called BWV_Take1, BWV_Take2.wav and so on and so on. When I consolidate the clips to MXF PCM, the names become "A01.5F8B386A_D054FDCC.MXF" -- obviously if I need to give these to a client, it would be really hard to know that this name is for Take 1. Is there any way I can manually change the metadata of the linked WAV original file, or add some metadata in Avid and then consolidate it and hopefully the name can be a different name like A01.TAKE1_D054" or something like that?
I realize Avid creates MediaFile names on its own to avoid duplicates, but I wonder if there's any way this can be resolved.

Has something changed in a recent MC version? Suddenly when I try to move an individual audio keyframe it just moves all the keyframes in that clip. I can't select just one keyframe. Any time I try it just selects all of them.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I'm trying to transcode some drone footage DJI in MP4 fomat. I've tried the standard link & transcode but it can't link to the media. I've tried to import it but get the error message saying the format is not supported for import. I've tried playing it in Quicktime but get a message saying "invalid sample description found in the movie". This occurs for each file filmed on the drone. The only way I can get the file to play is in Windows Media Player and I can't see anything in the properties that might cause an issue. I can't think what I'm missing.
I've already successfully imported other mp4 footage it just seems to be the drone stuff.
I'm working in a 1080i/ 50 project on Media Composer Ultimate 2020.9 running on Windows 10 laptop, 32GB RAM, i9, GeForce RTX2060

I'm having sluggishness on my windows 7 PC (Z440 qualified system) during multicam playback. Just 2 streams of 1080 XAVC Intra 100 media and marking in/out points is very very slow. Once the clips get into the timeline they seem to work just fine. Even when not using quad split the multigroup is very sluggish when marking in and out points in the source window. Playback itself is smooth- the video looks fine. Oddly, when no points are set the FIRST thing you enter is fine. So if you just enter an in point or just enter and out point it sets it fine with no stalling. But as soon as you complete the in-out it hangs up and takes 2 seconds to set the out point. I'm still on 2018.12.3 as well. I'm wondering if a newer version has fixed this issue.
Edit: disabling my hardware does not solve the problem. Another super stange quirk: If I zoom in on the timeline so as to only see approx 10 seconds or less of the clip, it marks in and outs fine. Zoom back out though and even marking a short 3 second moment causes delay. No waveforms, dup clips or other visual cues are on.

Several versions ago, possibly as far back as between v8.x and the 2018 versions, I lost the ability to resize column widths in bins, the media tool, and anywhere there are columns. I've remade user settings and site settings several times with different versions and I've uninstalled and reinstalled every time there's a new version but I still can't resize columns. Even going back to an old version doesn't fix it.
Does anyone have some ideas on what's going on and what to do next?
I have recently moved from uni while still wroking on a project so i moved the project to my laptop. I can open it fine but some of the media is being recognised from my D drive, which is where my media is, but some is being recognised from my F drive which i dont know what that is. I have tried creating a new bin and linked the media again. I then put a copy of the sequence in that folder and tried to relink but it only recognised the media that was previously showing from the D drive. Another thing i noticed is that the media that didnt relink has a real time "S" effect on it which i didnt put on there. Also the sound and the video that did get relinked is not linked together, they are now seperate files. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Thank you

I want to start using phrase find on my TV series. But I think my workflow (well the shows) may hinder using it.
Our dailies are done at a post house, and as we are all working from home now...myself and my assistant download the dailies. He does his thing and sends me the bins. But when I go to use phrase find, I get nothing. The icon is green. When I look in the PhoneticData folder there is a vo folder and a 1 folder in there...and nothing in the 1 folder.
I deleted them and started up MC again and the same thing. I think only I have the phrase find option on my system. Not sure if the post house has it. My assistant does not.
Any advice from the world out there?

We have 7 AMC 2020.6 with EditShare as a shared storage. Some imported/transcoded clips have sometimes foregin (polish) letters - diacritical marks. Can they cause any problems with Avid or storages work, file indexing?

Hi All,
I have an edited sequence containing some green screen shots that I need to export to the VFX house in order to get them composed. This sequence contains not only the green screen shots but also shots that don't need composing.
So I created a new sequence and brought in only the green screen shots using the in/out points that I set in the previously mentioned sequence.
Now I need to get the clips from this second sequence exported and sent to the VFX house along with some handles. I made an AAF, and an offline reference and I chose to consolidate all the clips in the same folder as the AAF since the VFX house won't have access to my HDD. However for some reason when I export the AAF, it doesn't seem to include all the files that I need. It seems to relink just fine in other NLE's but the actual files inside the MXF folder don't contain all the timecodes.
I have one clip for example, A001_A002_0925ZH_001, that I use multiple times in the edit. All the timecodes that I use for the edit are different. However it seems to be only exporting the first instance of the clip in the timeline, and it isn't exporting any of the later edit points. Do I need to be using a different function like decompose?
I tried decompose but it tells me that since I'm working with 6k AMA linked media that I can't decompose it. Since all of the clips are AMA linked, I can't decompose at all and nothing happens.
What should I do?
Am I correct in thinking there is no grade control surface we can now use with Avid?

I have an old project that was done in Avid Media Composer from the year 2018 (I don't even remember what version I used back then).. but anyway, with Avid Media Composer 2020, all of a sudden it won't let me re-link my clips because it says that the links were AMA'd using a Quicktime plug-in. What can I do? I have the original MP4 files on my hard drive but it won't let me re-link. :(

I'm exporting synced dailies from Media Composer, and there are 2 feature requests I have for multicam clips because of thar:
1. Is there/could there be a bin column that states the currently selected camera?
2. Is there a way to batch-select a camera in all selected multicam clips in a bin, like there's a way to apply batch in-out in script view?
I am wondering if there is a way to mark a clip on track 1 when track 2 or 3 is also selected? Tracks 2 and 3 are broll only, just footage scattered in at different points. I don't always want to select/unselect a track everytime
I recently summarized the workflow about gopro files importing avid:1.input gopro files selecting "Importing Media"2.Video Resoultion selecting"AVC Long Gop 35" ,you also can choose AVC Long-GOP 50, but the color will beslightly yellow and bright
3.After the imported GOPRO file is on the timeline, the color contrast of the video viewed from
the editing screen will not be as good as the original GOPRO video, so you need to add
the color correction in timeline and Adjustmenting the contrast value from 0 to 15,
the rest remain unchanged
4.Although the above process can import and show the original quality of the gopro video normally,
it still takes some time to import
that's all.

I think it will be shot in 25p, but I wonder if I should set my project in 25i. It's confusing me.

i've got an issue since few month, i've done all the latest update of media composer, 2020.4., 6, 9.. on my main computer.
at office, we got 4 computer, with composer 6.5 and 2019.
on the set, we using blackmagic device, VIDEO ASSIST 5" setting up with DNXHD 145 MXF, the result is giving me, 3 files footage named Capture****.V1.mxf (for video) and 2 files A1, A2 for Audio.
Anyway, at the office, or on older avid device, i'm using media tool, the files are detected as "DNXHD 120" files and everythings working.
But, on my brand new computer, with latest avid, latest QT, and older DNX Codec Files (and also Blackmagic software for video assist), the files are detected as "Unsupported HD1080p" making Avid Crashes.
With Error Message : "Exception: FATAL_ERROR, msg:Assertion failed: IndexDuration() <= IndexEntryCount(), file:e:\ws2\workspace\MC\release_Installer_Git\Win_Build\coresw\ame\src\msm\MXFMapperSegmented.c, line:254
only way to import files is to reencode into media encoder and import classic way (or transcode for bigger files).
I'm wasting so much time with all of these compression, not talking of losing data/quality in the process.
Anyone got any idea ?

So today i wanted to open Avid Media Composer and i keep getting the Reloading plugin: Amadevicemonitor.avx message. From there it simply freezes and it's impossible to open Media Composer. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? It only seems to be doing that on networks outside of the Avid Floating License network. I am running Windows 2004 at this point.

Fisrt time using on my new Dell Laptop XPS . Opened new title and I all I get is a white blank. I've been trying to find new user settings but no luck. So many windows are hidden and the functionality is very daunting. So differnet on my desktop.
