Can Dupe detection help me ?

$

I have a single large (1<= hour) H264 clip (created outside MC) containing lots of dropped frames resulting in duplicate frames.

Is it correct that the Dupe Detection tool will not help me in this situation ?

How can I locate the dup frames quickly using whatever tool or method, even outside MC ?

BSOD on exit MC 2018.12.11 Windows 10 MOJO DX

Hi,

I have 15 workstations editing with MC2018.12.11.

Some are mac based, others are win7, win 10 based, some have black magic cards and others mojo DX.

Strangely, since some weeks, my win10 + mojoDX setups are suffering about a very strange issue : when exiting the application,  we get a BSOD trashing all setting files (Site settings ,  Project settings ...) and corruping all unsaved bins.

Seems to be dx driver related , But don't Know how to solve It.

I really dont know what changed.

Need help.

Hi,

I 'm a french editor sorry for my english.

Since my MC2019 (on mac at home) and now with MC2020 (on pc at work), I can't find the keyboard shortcut to get the sound frame by frame.

Until version 2018 it was the VERRMAJ key, is there another key ?

I searched on the internet and on the MC2020 manual I can't find anything.

Thanks!

Waveforms doesn't show

Hey

I have two Avid MC stations at work here where the audio waveforms suddenly stopped showing. I have checked the usual settings people have suggested from similar problems, but this won't help. Yesterday I had waveforms, without changing any settings or doing anything out of the ordinary they stopped showing.

Here are som print screens:

1. http://i.imgur.com/LbznOF4.png

the "Show Marked Waveforms" is unchecked, as suggested in several threads I've read

2. http://i.imgur.com/PwrgXko.png

the usual settings I activate/deactive as I like to show the waveforms I want.

3. http://i.imgur.com/2pUq7mr.png

proof that the audio I have on the sequence actually has audio.

This is not a problem for just this specific sequence, other sequences I've worked in earlier that used to have waveforms also stopped showing them, so I have no idea where to go from here.

Any clever minds out there who could help me with this? Is there some setting or whatever I'm missing or forgetting about?

Thanks in advance,

Lasse

Starting today I have had the following error message pop during the loading of Avid MC 2018.5 running on Win7 with QT ver 7.7.9 installed...  This is a new problem and everything was otherwise functioning properly as of yesterday.

ERROR MSG as follows:

"QuickTime is not intalled on this system.  It is strongly recommended you install the latest version.  Some effects will not function properly without it."

Also in the notification area on Avid Load/Splash Screen in White area the following is being indicated.

Reloading plugin QuickTime_OPClient.avx

I have both uninstalled and reinstalled Qucktime 7.7.9 and Media Composer 2018.5 to no avail... Problem persists...

Any help would be appreciated

Hi all, I'm getting a very weird error message when I create a bin and add it to another bin. It doesn't always happen but has cropped up a few times over the past few days - has anyone seen this before...

'Assertion failed: oldWidth > fixedWidth

File: S:\ppg\uishell2.0\src\moreclasses\adividedpane.c, Line:826'

Any thoughts would be most welcome!

Thanks!

Info about clips in groups

$

Hi,

Very frustrating for me how info (Ctrl + I) works inconsistently in MC, I'm working with 2018 last version.

I have a group clip on a timeline and want info about a specific part of the group. Ctrl + I opens the console, whereas in the bin I get a very useful info window about each clip - with custom data / source path etc. etc.

As I have the clip RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE on the timeline and I'm looking right at it, is there any way to get a very ordinary one click 'properties' about that clip?

Match frame loads the group, copy paste match frame loads the group, subclip is still a group. Looking at the source is still group. Edit group Ctrl + I loads the console.

The only way I found is to copy the audio file name from the console info and search for it, then get info from there.

Way slow workflow  - ideas anyone.

Good day, I have one qestion using FrameFlex option in multicam mode. I have two files with adjusted FrameFlex. I group this files by IN point and get group clip, but after inserting this clip on timeline I do not see FrameFlex icon on the clip and can't apply FrameFlex option to group clip - "Source settings" is inactive. Although FrameFlex settings is applied to clips and I see it in group clip, I can't adjust it and I need adjust FrameFlex individually for each clip on timeline, created during multicam editing. Can I do this?

EDL View

Hello,

Is there a way to see an active EDL of my edit choices? In DaVinci Resolve there is this thing called an Edit Index. When you scroll through your timeline, it shows you your active edits kind of like an EDL.

I know you can *export* an EDL file, but I am wondering in Avid if you can actually see your EDL like in a spreadsheet format while editing.

Thanks,

Asaf

Media Composer 2020.10 Virus?

$

McAfee is probably overly cautious but during realtime scanning (i.e. scans a file when it is accessed) when I tried to first open MC 2020.10 (update from 2020.8) McAfee reported"C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Media Composer\AvidOPFrameGeneratorApp.exe" as a virus and quarantined it.  Attempting to continue opening MC and loading an existing project failed because the file had been moved to quarantine.

I can add this file to the McAfee exclusion list upon which MC 2020.10 starts and appears to operate just fine.  But I would feel more comfortable if someone from Avid could  have the developers review the file in question from the MC 2020.10 update package to ENSURE that this is a case of McAfee being "over-protective".

Thanks for any reassurance anyone can offer.

MC and MC Ultimate peeps......

Team Avid is presently investigating reports of a small number of anti-virus programs issuing warnings after updating to Media Composer v2020.10.

At this time, our review is indicating this is a false positive, but we will continue to investigate.

Raff or I will update the community on this issue within 24 hours of this post, if not sooner, as we learn more and can share helpful information.

Thanks for your patience peeps as we test and check ths ....

I will also post to MC Mac and MC First forums so they know as well.

Do NOT install Windows 10 Build 2004

$

Windows 10 build 2004 is causing a lot of issues for a lot of people, not just for MC users. At this point I would advise NOT installing build 2004. If you have already installed it, and have a restore point, downgrade using the restore point. If you've installed it within the  past 10 days, you can roll back the installation to the previous version. If it's been over 10 days, or you did a clean install of build 2004, then you're out of luck. The only option in this case is to do a clean install of Windows 10 build 1909 and then reinstall all of your applications.

If it's been less than 10 days, you can downgrade Windows 10 to a previous version. See the following Microsoft article:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options

and choose Remove an installed Windows update.

Installation error - missing files

Greetings all

Since 2018.9 I've been getting odd missing file errors when installing new versions of Media Composer. I never had this with previous installs. I've tried different applications to unzip the installer file downloaded from Avid, but I get the same error.

Here's the odd thing - if I just ignore the error messages and continue with the installation, Media Composer works fine! Even the audio effects mentioned in the error messages work. It seems to looking for missing .png file initially and then the entire fx file upon configuration the first time I launch MC.

Any ideas?
