Been linking with no problem in the past - perhaps there is a bug in 12.3 or did I do something wrong? MC will not link. The only thing that changed was MS 10 updated to 1809 - but that is supported. I guess I could update to 12.5 - but hate to when in the middle of project. I used be able to just select the entire fodler and it would link right into a bin. That no longer works as well. Am I missing something? Any ideas

Basic basic music only mix but need that Loudness compliance thing to pass for broadcast. Whats the best way to ensure it complies from within Avid guys? I have some audio plugins available from Avid called Pro Limiter/Pro compressor (seems to need a $50 posted iLok device though, so that ended really well 
. Bit behind the times as am still using lovely olde worlde PPM's it seems 
Proper stuff goes through a pro audio post facility but this is just a music bed :)

I am running Media Composer 2018.5 on a PC, and am working on a long format project. All the media I've brought into the project has been transcoded to the DNxHR LB codec, from AVC MP4 original media.
After transcoding and getting stuck into the editing, MC was loving life and I was able to edit without the lag you get from working with native media. I progressed towards the final stages of the edit without a single hiccup, until quite recently my project was abrubtly halted due to the following error which has, seemingly out of nowhere, decided to appear:
Exception: Cannot create the AMA sample mapper to play this clip.
I can no longer play any sequence, and when I scrub through the timeline it will scrub through some sections normally, but not other sections, making this strange error even more puzzling. And until it's resolved I can no longer continue working on my project, therefore any assistance is hugely appreciated.

In the MC manual there are some references to the differences between digital and analog audio scrub, but little info on how one can select which.
As far as I can fathom, audio scrub only works when using JKL - when using the mouse or Artist panels, I get digitals crub, which in my humble and analog videotape bound opinion is less than useless for precise editing of audio.
Is there any way to select analog scdrub for all scrubbing operations? Regardless of which human interface I can using?
Also, is there any way of getting audio scrub to work on the viewer (typically the source but also the record) when usingt the mouse wheel. To use the mouse wheel, it seems necessary to press Ctrl, which seems to defeat or ignore the CapsLock setting for audio scrub. I can get audio scrib using the source either viewer, but only when using mouse drag, the mouse wheel does not allow this.
I would love to see the option of allowing the mouse wheel to control either viewer WITHOUT having to press Ctrl first - as well as allowing me to select the preffered form of scrub, regarless of which viewer or control method used - is this possible?
Every so often when closing MC, it gives an error message that it has encountered a problem and has stopped working. I'll force MC to close with Windows Task Manager. I don't lose any saved work, but it's annoying and there seems to be no cause & effect pattern dictating when and why this happens.

some files are 4K, some are HD
Resolve will transcode it fine, Avid will link to some files, some not. Even forcing Avid to link the files with Panasonic P2 will result in an error

Exception:BG_UniSink instance is not compatible with BG_CompositeSink instance.

I have been using MacDrive for years, to access Mac formatted discs on
the PC at work. I use a Mac at home, so this has facilitated an easy
back and forth on multiple drives. On occasion, I'd get the error
messages attached here. A system restart has always fixed this issue.
Previously, we were on MC 8.5.3. We upgraded at the end of May, per the
recent Avid subscription requirements. We are now are on 2018.9. The
error messages have gotten more frequent, halting the workflow.
Any ideas? I am reaching out to Mediafour, the manufacturer of
MacDrive, suspecting an upgrade to current version of that app may be in
order.
If anyone here knows of a workaround, I am all ears!

My trusty 1080p H264 export preset suddenly broke; exports are taking an infinite amount of time (it gradually increases, staying ahead of the time passed), and the only file created is always 48 bytes long.
The processor is busy, Avid and QT are chugging away, the source drive is being read from... but nothing eventuates.
I am googling completely fruitlessly so far... does anyone recognise this at all?
ANY suggestions welcome at this point!

We are running Windows 10 (1709) with Media Composer 2018.11 and Interplay 2018.11 installed on a HP z840. We've noticed that post installing the Nexis Client Manager (18.11.0.9) an issue appears where after half a day or so windows explorer stops auto-refreshing.
This means when you do any operation at explorer level you do not see the change without having to refresh (F5) first. It also means if you mount new drives in the Nexis Client Manager they do not appear in Media Composer unless you quit and reopen the application.
Additionally, with the same software and hardware except on Windows 7 we do not see this issue.

I have some generall questions, regarding my new project. Thanks in advance for reading and helping me to understand these issues.
1. my project was shot on two different cameras and two different FPS: Sony PMW-F3 - 23.976 fps, Sony Alpha A7S - 25fps.
I read here and in this wikidoc (https://wikis.utexas.edu/display/comm/AVID+-+Mixing+Frame+Rates+in+Same+Project) how to bring the different materials together into the same project, by AMA and then Transcode. this is not the problem, this is OK.
So, as a consequence, my timeline is going to include some 25fps clips and some 23.976 clips.
isn't it going to cause some problems in the future? any kind of problems?
the project will be onlined on Adobe Premiere.
2. all the sound files was recorded seperately 25fps.
I intend to sync it in the Avid.
Is there going to be a problem to sync a 23.976fps video with a 25fps sound file?
I am using Avid MC6 on Windows 7.

I'm having trouble figuring out the best workflow for producing a h264 or x264 blu ray disc.
The previously advised workflow is QT mov or QT ref from Avid> Sorenson Squeeze to create blu ray files> Avid DVD to author blu ray disc.
However, Avid DVD only supports MPEG-2 encoding for Blu Ray, and I've found the quality is not sufficient for my purposes. It's basically a really lossy crappy encoding that imo doesn't have enough advantage over DVD to be worth bothering with.
Sorenson offers to create x264 or h264 renders for Blu Ray as an alternative to MPEG-2 encoding, but I'm struggling to find a software which can take the resulting .264 video file and .ac3 audio file and actually create a playable blu ray from it. Everything I've tried so far (including Avid DVD) just re-encodes the files into MPEG-2.
What is the advised workflow for this? Ideally I need the ability to add a start menu as well before authoring.

I often have 50i Footage in 25p Projects.
Avid usually applies Motion Adapters to 50i clips,
sometimes I'll "Refresh Sequence -> Motiona Adapters / Timewarps" before export.
Works for regular clips, but not for groups. any advice?
Hi, I've been finding that Media Composer keeps crashing due to runtime errors and, in collaboration with Microsoft, I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the service packs with no change. But I've just noticed that when I run MC the memory usage on my PC leaps to 70% - before I've even opened a project. I have 32Gb of RAM. It shouldn't be draining this much should it? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
On a client's Symphonies. They recently updated from 2018.7 to 2018.9. Now it seems there are two Avid Generic Plug-Ins installed - 2.6.0.10041 and 3.3.4.10092. When linking in a card's worth of A7s footage, half of them are using the new Generic Plug-In (and showing timecode) and the other half are using Avid Generic Plug-In 2.6 (00:00:00:00). RT-Click on the clips when linking only shows one Generic plug-in (plus QuickTime and XDCAM plug-ins) but there's no distinction between 3.3 or 2.6.
How can we get rid of the older 2.6 plug? I don't see an uninstaller for it. Prior to the update to 2018.9 they uninstalled Avid Media Composer and Avid Application Manager, but left Avid Codecs PE. Does that package need to be uninstallled as well before an update?

i have a rent subscribtion for Media Composer, right now im at version 2018.5, im not getting updates since this version, i have downloaded the patch file (Avid_Media_Composer_Patch_2018.12.5_Win) but im getting an error when trying to instal it, (please find the attached screenshot).
how i can update my Media composer to the latest version, (at least 2018.7 for the live timeline option)

I have seen an Avid document that states MC now (2018.12.x) requires a minimum of 16GB ram. I am mostly cutting on an i7 quadcore laptop with 16GBram, running 2018.12.5, without any issues for mainly HD Broadcast and 2K film, - just as fast as ever.
Does anyone know what the minimum ram requirements might be for the forthcoming 2019.6? I am in the market for a newer laptop later in the year anyway, but would just like to know if I stay put for a while.

So I'm finally taking the plunge and going to monthly subscrition because I will be editing some 4K projects. Can I keep my version 7.04 dongle license and just deactivate it and install the new subscription version? So I could atsome point go back to it.
Another option I might try would be to move the dongle V7.04 to another computer and put the new license on the other?
